STEP 1: BASE COLORS AND MATERIALS
2 materials, one for the sides and the bottom. And one for the top which is the water surface.
STEP 2: TRANSPARENCY
Side material's transparency increased.
STEP 3: ADDING GRADIENT
Add a gradient map.
STEP 4: NORMAL AND SPECULAR
Top material: 1 normal map and 2 UV-coordinates. "UV 1" scrolls from left to right and "UV 2" from right to left.
STEP 5: REFLECTION
A basic cubemap reflection added to both materials.
STEP 6: FRESNEL EFFECT
Same reflection with fresnel calculation.
STEP 7: WATER CAUSTICS
As for the finishing touch. A little "fake" caustic projection from a top.
STEP 8: CONTROLLING WAVE
The wave itself is a simple sine wave and the points are additional strength modifiers. Red = highest strength and green = lowest. Check the video to see the results.
